When Apple Music entered the fray, the music service buzz finally piqued my interest. I figured a music service would only offer mainstream options. A colleague started using Rhapsody and informed me about the service years ago.

I knew about these services a long time ago. For a mere $10 per month, it’s possible to listen to just about any song or album. We live in a brave new world for music fans. Unless you were wealthy, you had to choose wisely and listen to an album several times just to get some value out of it. We were expected to spend $10 to $15 for an album. This article compares Apple Music and Spotify.īeing a music fan used to be very expensive. Honestly, if Spotify calmed down with the podcast recs, and had sound quality as good as AM, it wouldn’t be a competition for me.Streaming services are the future of music consumption. The shuffling is also much better than Spotify’s. The lyrics feature is beautiful but I’m still satisfied with Spotify’s Genius lyrics feature. I find AM harder to use as there are less shortcuts. I would suggest it if you’re not too concerned about playlists and music as an “interest” (as opposed to casual listening). However, the recommendations can get overwhelming for someone who isn’t interested in finding new music/podcasts but just listening to your favourite albums and artists.ĪM has a prettier and cleaner interface and the sound quality is MUCH better.

Further, the playback features like crossfade make the listening experience just SO much more enjoyable. I find it easier to use and its connection with other apps/social media is great. If you’re a music lover, Spotify is much better for recommendations, tailoring its algorithm to you really well. I’ve used both AM and Spotify, but I’m loyal to Spotify.
